What is Young Adult Ministry?

"Young adulthood is a passage of life when new decisions are made, paths are taken and a place is established in one's community. Young adult ministry is for those in their late teens, twenties and thirties (singles or young families), with varied kinds of work and goals. It provides an opportunity to share friendship, fellowship and faith with other Catholic Christians.

Young adult ministry encourages people to interact among themselves, with the parish and beyond. A mark of the ministry is multi-cultural hospitality; everyone is welcome. The ministry is organized by young adults with the support of parish staff, and provides a forum for social, spiritual and educational activities. All are invited to join the fellowship by asking parishes for the ministry and for a local young adult contact person."

The Lynchburg Young Adult Ministry started in 2006 as the occasional gathering of friends. Since then, we have grown to include a wide variety of social gatherings, service activities, and ways to explore our faith. We take part in Bible studies, host Summer Theologicas, attend retreats, and volunteer our time in our parishes and the community. Our activities are always changing and growing to meet the needs of the group and those we serve.

Some of the things we have done recently are:

Gather as friends

Celebrate the Sacraments

Serve our brothers and sisters at Daily Bread

Attend the Diocesan YAM Convention

Play disc golf

Gather for Mass on the Mountain

We welcome you to become a part of our fellowship and to grow together in faith and in friendship. There are no membership fees or obligations, just join us when you can!
