GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND YOUTH
The United States of
America provides the opportunity for all people to receive an education. Citizens in turn
become active and productive members of Society. However, if a person attended 1st
grade, skipped 2 years, attended 4th grade, skipped 4 years, attended 9th
grade, skipped 2 years, and finally attended 12th grade, would he/she be considered
diploma- worthy and prepared for gainful employment or higher education? Education is not
only a right but also a responsibility for the good of the whole community.
At Baptism Parents and Godparents bring their child
into Gods Family, the Church, and promise to help that person grow as an active
member of Gods Kingdom. To support this promise the Church provides opportunities
for formation which should be treated with the same importance and dedication as the
aforementioned civil situation.
Therefore:
- For as long as a student is
in civil education, formal religious education should remain a priority.
- Consistent attendance and active participation are
the norms.
 | All students are expected to attend all classes and
all activities. |
 | Families should make every effort to plan other
activities so they do not conflict with the Christian Formation sessions. |
 | Parents/Guardians should notify Catechist/Teacher of
absence and arrange for homework by calling 846-5245 or emailing at hcrossreled@aol.com. |
 | Parents/Guardians will be phoned if their student is
not in class and there has been no previous notification of absence. |
- Parental involvement is vital to the growth of the
student and the whole religious education experience.
- Regular and active celebration of Sunday Eucharist
and service to the Church and surrounding community energize the purpose of Christian
Formation, which is to be the hands, eyes, voice, feet of Jesus in the World.
FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEER CATECHISTS
- Volunteers are trained, prayerful, Faith-filled,
enthusiastic Catechists.
- Staff/Catechists will periodically inform
parents/guardians of their students progress.
- Staff will provide retreats and continuing education
for volunteers.
- Staff will provide opportunities for retreats and
continuing education for parents/guardians.
