Religious Education

The parish is the center of faith formation for Catholics. Every person in your pews, every Catholic in your parish community…child or adult…is on their own journey toward Christ and a life of discipleship. To learn more about our religious education, contact Rachel Pietsch.

Children's Religious Education Classes

We are excited to partner with families on this journey. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, (#2223-26) parents are the primary educators of their children in the faith. We believe families are entering into a partnership with us when you join our program. All efforts are done in accordance with the policies developed by the Office of Christian Formation of the Diocese of Richmond.

Our classes are currently grouped:
  • Kindergarten & First Grade
  • Second Grade (First Holy Communion & First Reconciliation)
  • Third Grade
  • Fourth Grade
  • Fifth & Sixth Grades
  • Seventh & Eighth Grades
  • Ninth Grade
  • Tenth Grade (Confirmation)
Our classes meet on Sundays from 9:30 - 10:45am.
The schedule for 2025 - 2026 can be found here.

First Holy Communion & First Reconciliation
Preparation begins in second grade with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The focus of Reconciliation is the story of the Prodigal Son in relation to sin, sorrow for sin, and seeking and receiving forgiveness. The Sacrament of the Eucharist is received in the Spring after a retreat, interview with the Pastor and classes are complete.

Confirmation
This sacramental preparation class strives to provide additional formation for our teens who are preparing for confirmation in the spring. This class follows a curriculum that walks our teens through salvation history with an added emphasis on Confirmation and how to live their lives after receiving the sacrament.
